I, the Blogger

I was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Serbia, stationed in Niš. I received a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and history from Boise State in May 2013. I am in the MA program in English Linguistics at the University of Niš, fall 2015. For the past 1.5 years, I’ve done various projects assisting in the Serbian theatre of the refugee crisis.

I write about “smushy” topics like language, literature, politics, and my own impressions/wrestlings with identity during my time here.

I’m a former Fulbrighter-turned-student in the Balkans. This is a blog about Serbia, the Balkans, religion, American identity, colonialisms (neo-, post-, and otherwise), geopolitics, justice and whimsy.

My interests include language documentation and revitalization, refugee resettlement and support, history, researching post-colonial and emerging nation-hood ideology, theology, human rights, and music.
